Christmas has officially launched in Richmond!

Richmond kicked off the festive season in spectacular style on 21st November, with a magical evening packed full of Christmas cheer for the whole family.

George Street was transformed into a festive scene, alive with the enchantment of Ice Queens, Candy Canes, Clockwork Ballerinas, and Nutcracker characters spreading joy to everyone in their path.

The heart of the action was the town centre stage, where Riverside Radio brought the festive vibes live. Skylarks, a cherished local charity supporting children with additional needs, treated us to a beautiful rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas that left everyone brimming with festive spirit.

Adding even more sparkle to the evening, the Rock Choir had the crowd singing along with their uplifting harmonies, perfectly setting the mood ahead of the big moment.

Stars of this year’s Richmond Theatre Pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, added a touch of theatrical magic to the event. The talented Hope Dawe (Belle) and Cherece Richards (The Enchantress) captivated the audience with soulful Christmas performances that left everyone enchanted.

The highlight of the evening had to be the grand light switch-on, led by the Mayor of Richmond upon Thames. As the town was illuminated with twinkling lights, the majestic 26ft Christmas tree took centre stage. Sponsored by local businesses Sticks n' Sushi, Moore Barlow, and Foot Solutions, the tree stands as a dazzling symbol of the season, spreading festive cheer across the town.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the start of Christmas in Richmond! From the performers to the sponsors, and of course, the community who brought their holiday spirit, it truly was an unforgettable evening.

Richmond is officially glowing with Christmas magic – we can’t wait to see you all enjoying the festive fun in town over the coming weeks!
