This summer, families are invited to step into the wild heart of Richmond as part of an exciting new outdoor adventure: the Be Explorers wildlife trail, running from 19th July to 25th August 2025.
Designed to inspire curious minds and celebrate the borough’s thriving natural landscape, this free, family-friendly trail blends nature exploration with fun incentives for all ages.
The trail encourages residents and visitors alike to follow a beautifully illustrated map through Richmond’s riverside paths, leafy parks, and hidden green gems, spotting wildlife as they go.
From birds and bugs to blossoms and trees, participants will uncover a rich array of biodiversity along the route.
Trail-goers who complete the journey and upload a photo of their completed map will be in with a chance to win a £100 Cocotte voucher, as well as gain exclusive access to a printable activity booklet – ideal for keeping little ones entertained over the holidays.
In partnership with Be Richmond and aligning with the borough’s biodiversity drive, the initiative includes the installation of bird boxes, bat boxes, a bug hotel, and a loggery on Compass Hill, just off 50 Hill Rise – reinforcing Be Richmond’s commitment to supporting urban wildlife habitats.
To top it all off, families completing the trail can stop by Hotel Chocolat to receive a ‘Little Explorer’ sticker and a complimentary mini ice cream – a sweet reward for a day of discovery.
Trail maps can be downloaded online or picked up in person at the Visit Richmond kiosk at Richmond Station. Participants are encouraged to share their adventures on social media by tagging @BeRichmond.
