From 4-6pm on Thursday 27th November, Richmond will sparkle into the festive season next week as Be Richmond hosts its annual Christmas Lights Switch On, with a special guest bringing a touch of television magic to the celebrations.
Much loved British icon Basil Brush will take centre stage to lead the countdown, delighting families, residents and fans with his trademark humour and unmistakable ‘Boom Boom’ charm.
The appearance marks his return to the town ahead of his role in Cinderella at the Richmond Theatre this Christmas.
The switch on event, one of the highlights of Richmond’s winter calendar, will transform the town centre into a hub of seasonal celebration with live music, children’s entertainment, local performances, festive food stalls and late-night shopping from participating businesses.
“This is always a special moment for the town,” said a spokesperson for Be Richmond.
“The lights bring people together, support our local businesses and mark the true beginning of Christmas in Richmond. Having Basil Brush join us makes this year feel even more joyful.”
The event forms part of Be Richmond’s ongoing commitment to supporting the town centre with free family events that boost footfall, encourage community engagement and celebrate everything that makes Richmond distinctive.
With thousands expected to attend, the switch on will usher in a season of festive activity across the area, as shopfronts, streets and venues glow with colour and light.
