If you were in Richmond on Saturday 19th November, perhaps on your way to the rugby or starting your Christmas shopping, you might have seen a rather grumpy green creature causing chaos on George Street! The Grinch was in town, with his friend Cindy Lou Who, to mark the official start of the festive season in Richmond.

Despite his best efforts to unplug all of Richmond’s new Christmas lights, his plan failed and we were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Richmond, Cllr Julia Cambridge, along with Goldilocks and Dame Betty Barnum from Richmond Theatre’s pantomime, to save the day by pressing the big red button to officially start Christmas in Richmond.
The Be Richmond pop-up garden in Whittaker Avenue was dressed for the occasion with Christmas trees and twinkly lights, and we’ve added some overhead cover for cosiness as the nights draw in.
We were delighted to welcome so many of you on Saturday, and hope to see you back in Whittaker Avenue again for another festive fun afternoon. Join us for craft activities, carols, a live performance from the Decibelles, the Vineyard Community Centre Fashion Show and more. All these events are free and there’s no need to book.
We have limited availability to see Father Christmas on Saturday 17th December, but we recommend booking your slot very soon as he is a busy man! All donations from this event will go to Skylarks, a local charity supporting children with disabilities and their families.
