Be Inspired is back for its second year! Following the success of the 2025 competition, we’re delighted to invite budding photographers to enter their chosen image and be in with a chance to win one of three spectacular prizes.
This community-driven photography competition invites you to showcase your favourite image of Richmond Upon Thames, captured through your own lens. Whether it’s a candid moment in Richmond Park, the shimmer of the river on a summer’s day, or a charming shopfront that caught your eye, we want to see what inspires you.
The competition runs from 1-31 May and is open to budding photographers of all abilities (including students 16+). It’s not all about technical perfection, it’s about storytelling and perspective.
No matter your skill level or equipment, every photo tells a story - and we’d love to see yours. Let’s come together to celebrate the unique perspectives that make Richmond so special.
Categories
You can enter your photo into one of three categories:
- Green Space – Celebrate the natural beauty of Richmond’s parks and gardens
- High Street – Showcase vibrant shopfronts and everyday moments in town
- Riverside – Capture the tranquillity and life along the river
If you would like to enter multiple categories, please submit separate entries.
Prizes
An overall winner will be carefully selected by renowned Richmond-based National Geographic photographer Alex Saberi. With winners to be announced on 10 June 2026.
- 1st Place (Overall Winner): A two-night stay with Countrywide Hotels, - this could even be a staycation at The Selwyn in Richmond!
- 2nd Place: One winner will receive two pairs of IOLLA eyewear (choose from a wide range of prescription glasses, non-prescription sunglasses, or prescription sunglasses), each valued at £85.
- 3rd Place: One winner will receive a £100 voucher for No 1a Duke Street
Exhibition & Charity Auction
The winning images, along with a curated selection of entries, will be showcased as part of a special photography exhibition at Richmond and Hillcroft Adult and Community College- celebrating the creativity and perspective of the Richmond community.
The overall winner and two runners-up will also have their photographs included in a silent auction at a Be Richmond business engagement event in July, raising funds for local charity Habitats & Heritage.
In addition, everyone taking part has the chance to be featured as hero visuals in upcoming Be Richmond campaigns.
