Be Richmond is bringing the holiday cheer to Richmond Upon Thames’ town centre this Christmas.  

Christmas Lights Switch-on

The 2026 Lights Switch On will take place on Thursday 19 November, 4.00pm-6.00pm. Enjoy live entertainment, festive cheer, and celebrate the town centre lighting up for Christmas shopping, eating, and drinking.  

From 4pm, George Street will be open to the public for the start of the Be Festive celebrations.

From 5pm, the Riverside Radio stage will host a variety of performances from Be Richmond’s talented festive entertainers, a range of exciting acts guaranteed to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.

The crowds will be entertained with even more Be Richmond guests - your favourite Superheroes, much-loved Buddy the Elf, Candy Cane Stilt Walkers and giant Nutcracker characters. Creating the perfect opportunity for families to capture memorable festive photos.

The magical moment will take place at 5:45pm when the Mayor of Richmond takes to the stage for the official light switch on, illuminating the town centre in dazzling festive lights. The ringers of St Mary Magdalene Church, located in the heart of Richmond, will also join in the festivities with the bells ringing out on the stroke of 6pm, spreading even more Christmas cheer to everyone.

Christmas Gifting Market 19-22 November

Discover something special this Christmas at Be Richmond’s first ever Christmas Gifting Market. In partnership with Judy’s Vintage and the Big Flea Market we will be bringing a festive selection of beautiful gifts from independent craft sellers, treats and one of a kind preloved finds. The market is the perfect place to browse, shop and pick up something unique for friends, family, or yourself, while enjoying Christmas in the heart of Richmond.

Some of Richmond’s most loved eateries will be there to fill any rumbling tums with some festive foodie treats.  Riverside eatery Brindisa Tapas will be serving up authentic Spanish flavours from quality ingredients.  Local favourite Megans at the Old Town Hall, will be mixing up delicious seasonal cocktails and drinks.
