Be Richmond Christmas Campaigns & Activations 2022

With the festive season fast approaching, this article gives an outline of Be Richmond’s planned campaigns and activations for the run-up to Christmas 2022.

All have been designed to attract footfall to the town centre over a five- to six-week period, encouraging residents, workers and visitors to choose Richmond as a place to dwell, shop, eat and enjoy their leisure time.

Advertising and promotion of these initiatives will begin around 15th November, but please find below an outline to help you with your own planning for this important time of year.

12 Days of Christmas Campaign
Running from 1st to 12th December, the ’12 Days of Christmas’ giveaway campaign is designed to showcase Richmond’s retail and hospitality offer.

We are looking for 12 BID member businesses to donate a gift to be given away to a member of the public via a social media campaign. Each of the 12 participating businesses will feature in digital advertising, including paid media, with one gift given away each day.

If you’d like to take part by donating a gift, please contact us.

Online Gift Guides
The Be Richmond website will feature online gift guides spanning a variety of themes such as ‘Sustainable Gifts’, ‘Foodie Gifts’, ‘Secret Santa Gifts’ and gifts for loved ones (parents, children, teens, grandparents, pets etc).

If you have any products that you would like featured, please contact us

Whittaker Avenue Activations
In lieu of a single, short, Christmas Lights Switch On event, Whittaker Avenue will host a series of festive events over five weekends, beginning on Saturday 19th November. Download an outline programme here.

These events will take place in the Be Richmond pop-up garden, which will be transformed for winter during the week commencing 14th November.

All events and final timings will be posted on the Be Richmond What’s On guide and on our social media feeds.

New Christmas Lights for Richmond
We are excited to unveil a brand new lighting scheme for Richmond this year.

The new scheme is unique to Richmond and includes bespoke motifs that have been designed especially for us. Lights will extend throughout the town centre and out into previously unlit areas, including Petersham Road, Hill Rise, Kew Road and Parkshot.

In all areas, lighting will improve in terms of impact and wow factor, with opportunities for selfies and social sharing to help raise the profile of Richmond as an attractive shopping and leisure destination during the festive season.

Sustainability and energy costs were high on the agenda when seeking a new supplier of Christmas lights. We have selected an experienced, energy-conscious contractor with specialist knowledge in this area. All motifs use low energy LED bulbs and the lights will be timed to switch off earlier than in previous years.
