HOW IS FOOTFALL COUNTED IN RICHMOND?
Be Richmond partners with Proximity Futures, a leading data collection provider that specializes in town centre and high street environments, to collect and report footfall data via their GEO-Sense system.
We began the process of installing footfall sensors in the town centre and collecting data in August 2021. The sensors are located in Lower George Street near Tesco; at the junction of George Street and Hill Street; and at the bottom of Hill Rise.
GEO-Sense tracks all WiFi-enabled devices within range of each sensor, anonymizes the data and delivers analytics in real time. It captures, stores, recalls and monitors visitor movement and can differentiate between new and repeat visitors, giving insight not only on footfall but also on dwell time and visit frequency.
WHAT ABOUT GDPR?
GEO-Sense follows all the guidelines set out by the Information Commissioner (ICO) for WiFi based location analytics. It is 100% GDPR compliant and fully anonymizes any data collected.
