Richmond BID Chairman, Erick Kervaon, has worked in Richmond since 2013, when he became General Manager of the prestigious Bingham hotel in Petersham Road.
Even though his hospitality career has taken him all over the world and includes many glamorous locations, Erick has no hesitation in choosing Richmond as his favourite place to work.
The town’s beautiful riverside location is a key factor, as Erick explains:
‘I can cycle to work along the Thames towpath from my home in Elmbridge all the way to The Bingham. And, when I get to work I can enjoy stunning riverside views throughout the day’.
But it’s not just about aesthetics. Erick loves the sense of community in Richmond, which unlike many places, transcends both residents and businesses.
‘Everyone who lives or works in Richmond takes great pride in the town’ says Erick ‘this pride in the town means that everyone expects and demands the highest standards. There’s no place for complacency in Richmond and if there’s a problem it will be dealt with and not ignored’
It was this sense of pride and demand for high standards that persuaded Erick to become involved with the BID as he further explains:
‘I could see that all parties, including residents, businesses, the council and the police all wanted the best for Richmond and that the BID could be a focal point for improvement, by acknowledging issues, finding solutions and implementing them.’
Erick is very confident about Richmond’s future:
‘I believe that working under the BID banner of ‘Live, Work, Explore’ everyone who lives in, works in or visits Richmond can enjoy a safe, well-maintained and thriving environment.’
