Richmond town centre will once again become a stage for performance, creativity and community this summer as Centre Stage Richmond returns from 17th to 19th July.

Following the success of last year’s event, the festival is set to bring another weekend of entertainment and activity to the heart of the town, with support from Be Richmond and a new partnership with the Orange Tree Theatre.

Organised by Richmond and Wandsworth Councils, the event will transform key locations across the town centre with performances, creative activity and cultural experiences designed to attract visitors and celebrate Richmond’s vibrant high street.

The festival begins on Friday 17th July with an evening performance on Richmond Riverside, setting the tone for a weekend of live entertainment.

On Saturday 18th July, George Street will once again be closed to traffic and transformed into a lively hub of performance, activity and family friendly experiences.

The celebrations will continue on Sunday 19th July as the festival spreads across more of the town, appearing in unexpected and hidden locations throughout Richmond.

Activities will include events on Hill Rise, which will be closed from the junction with Petersham Road to The Vineyard for the day.

For businesses, the event offers an opportunity to showcase Richmond’s unique mix of independent retailers, restaurants and cultural venues while benefiting from increased footfall across the weekend.

Be Richmond Chief Executive Fay Cannings said the festival plays an important role in supporting the town centre and strengthening Richmond’s reputation as one of London’s most distinctive destinations.

“Centre Stage Richmond is a fantastic example of how culture and community can bring the town centre to life,” she said.

“Events like this encourage people to spend time in Richmond, explore its businesses and enjoy everything the area has to offer.

“We are pleased to support the festival once again and to work alongside our partners to deliver a memorable weekend for residents and visitors,” she added.

To support the event, George Street will be closed from 6am to 9pm on Saturday 18th July. Hill Rise will be closed on Sunday 19th July, while George Street will reopen as normal that day.

Traffic diversions will be clearly signposted to minimise disruption.

Businesses are being encouraged to take part in the festival by hosting activities outside their premises or contributing ideas and sponsorship to help bring the weekend to life.

Organisers say the aim is to build on last year’s success and create a vibrant celebration that reflects the creativity, character and community spirit of Richmond.
