BOA Boutique has been on Richmond Hill since 2012. It is owned and managed by Sheila Harding, who has over 30 years’ experience in fashion retail and has previously worked at Selfridges, Harrods and for Bruce Oldfield at his store in Knightsbridge.
Sheila started BOA (Bridal Occasion Accessories) as she wanted to be her own manager and have complete control from the initial design stage, right through to manufacturing her exquisite gowns. She works with a team of 8 staff and seamstresses whom Sheila has known individually for 12 years and values having a great group of people around her that can be relied upon.
What makes BOA Boutique special is that, as well as hosting other designer collections, Sheila has her own exclusive collection ‘Harmony’ and has her own in-house workroom in the Richmond store. This means that all customer needs are met and a gown can typically be made, on average, within 4-6 months. There are 5 fitting rooms at the premises which maximises the number of fittings available throughout the week.
An important aspect of the business is allowing clients to inject their own personality and style into their dress. Bridal outfits range from classic ballroom to contemporary designs and Sheila believes it is important to completely understand what her customers want so that she can either create a completely bespoke outfit or personalise something from an existing collection.
The majority of BOA’s clients come through referrals and some customers travel from around the world to order a dress from Sheila for weddings taking place in countries like France, Italy, New Zealand and Dubai.
BOA Boutique has received many accolades since its launch as is listed the Top 25 boutiques for bridal wear in Perfect Weddings Magazine.
Sheila’s plans for the future include opening another 4 boutiques across the UK which will be based in Ireland, Scotland and the North and South of England.
