Subsidised, Zero-to-Landfill Recycling with First Mile

Be Richmond offers its members a subsidised recycling solution with waste contractor, First Mile. The scheme is open to all Richmond BID levy-paying businesses.

HOW IT WORKS
When your business joins the scheme, you will receive an annual allocation of FREE dry mixed recycling sacks (for plastic, paper and cans) and/or cardboard stickers. These are funded by Be Richmond on your behalf.

Larger businesses that require bin collections can switch their free mixed recycling sacks or cardboard stickers for a discount on bin collections.

Your free allocation depends on the Rateable Value (RV) of your premises and is calculated as follows:

RV Band (£) Allocation (units)
0 100
50,000 175
100,000 200
150,000 300
200,000 400
250,000 500
400,000 600

In addition, members have access to BID-negotiated discounts on additional waste and recycling services from First Mile. Download a price list here

BE COST-CONSCIOUS
Savings via the Be Richmond scheme equate to a 43% discount on mixed recycling and a 64% discount on general waste, compared to normal First Mile prices for non-BID member businesses.

BE GREEN
First Mile is a ‘zero-to-landfill’ waste contractor, meaning that they recycle and reuse as much waste as possible. Anything that cannot be recycled is used to generate green energy. Find out more here

Waste is collected twice per day in Richmond town centre. Consolidating collections to a single supplier means less traffic, less pollution and healthier air quality – and waste is not left on the streets for long periods.

BE EFFICIENT
Through the scheme, you’ll get streamlined invoicing and reporting, easy-to-access support systems and a dedicated account manager. You can get on with running your business while we take care of your waste and recycling.
