Stylish Graphics Transform Empty Shops in Town Centre

Popular Initiative Funded by Be Richmond Member Businesses.

Empty retail units in Richmond town centre have been transformed by the installation of stylish, colourful graphics showcasing the rich cultural, architectural and natural heritage of the area.

Themed around history, culture, nature and local poetry, the graphics have been funded by members of Be Richmond, an alliance of over 300 businesses in the town centre area.

Feedback from businesses and residents has been very enthusiastic.

Be Richmond Chair, Ann Chapman-Daniel, a committed supporter of local and national arts commented:

‘As in many places around the country, the Covid-19 pandemic has led to the closure of several shops. In Richmond, the empty units are in prominent areas and were having a detrimental effect on the aesthetic impact to visitors to the town. The new graphics not only brighten up the streets, they also highlight the outstanding cultural and natural features of the area. We are thrilled that they have generated such positive responses and proud to have made a positive contribution to the town.’
