Richmond was ranked in the top 10 most vibrant retail destinations by the 2017 Harper Dennis Hobbs Vitality Index (beating illustrious names including, Canary Wharf, Westfield Stratford, London West End and Kingston upon Thames).
The index is based on factors such as the concentration of quality retailers that contribute towards a vibrant high street, which serves as a community hub that is well-matched to the affluent neighbourhoods in which they are situated.
The report which was covered by the BBC didn’t mention the fantastic selection of bars and restaurants in the town.
2 – The Happiest Place to Live in London
Richmond was named the happiest place to live in London in a Rightmove survey of over 17,000 people across 159 areas in Great Britain.
The study asked residents how happy they are where they live and also to rank 12 happiness factors including; community spirit, the friendliness of locals, and the amenities and local services.
3 – Consistent Jobs Growth and a Thriving Local Economy
Richmond has generated the second biggest jobs growth in London over the last 40 years, trailing only Tower Hamlets which is home to business area Canary Wharf. The findings are part of a Greater London Authority report which was published in December 2017.
Richmond is now recognized as much more than a retail and leisure destination. It is the UK home of many leading digital and tech companies, it has a large office sector and Richmond businesses employ over 12,000 people.
Be Richmond’s aim is to build on this cluster of innovation and attract more world class companies into the area.
4 – Unrivalled Communications Infrastructure
Richmond has excellent road, rail and air links meaning that Central London and Heathrow can both reached in under 30 minutes. The town is a short drive from the M25 and beyond and Richmond Station is served by Network Rail, the District Line and London Overground.
There’s even a riverboat service in summer months.

5 – Beautiful Riverside Setting
Richmond is situated along one of the most picturesque and accessible parts of the Thames and is home to the famous Richmond Park. Richmond is steeped in history and, with two award-winning theatres, an art gallery and a museum, the town has much to offer connoisseurs of culture.
